It’s a busy day for YouTube…
First up: YouTube Select Shorts lets you show your ads alongside top content, putting you in front of engaged audiences interested in topics like beauty, sports, and more. Nice.
And speaking of interests, YouTube is also testing a “Most Relevant” display that features content users engage with the most, helping them find the latest—and most relevant—content.
This could make it hard for smaller creators to be heard over the noise or bend their content to fit what’s trending. Something to think about.
But you’ll probably want to play nice with YouTube, because it snapped up nearly 9.7% of all TV viewing last month, beating Netflix by more than a 1% margin.
That’s 13 months of being at the top. Who would have thought?
Also, YouTube has also given you the ability to upload Members-only Shorts directly, rather than limiting you to converting existing Shorts. So that’s nice…
TikTok is up to a few things, too: You can now mention other accounts in your bio, for one. It’s also testing attaching links to organic videos.
More organic traffic drivers? Yes please.
