The US ban is becoming more real

Dear TikTok, Sell or else. From, the US government.

Over the weekend, the US Congress passed a bill that would require ByteDance—TikTok’s owner company—to sell the platform or be banned.

A similar bill was passed a little while ago, but the new one gives ByteDance a bit more time to mull over the decision: Nine months rather than six.

If the bill goes to the US Senate, President Joe Biden said he will sign it.

Not going down easily: Naturally, TikTok will likely challenge the bill in court, claiming the bill will suppress freedom of speech rights and have a profound impact on millions of businesses.

It’s hard to say how this saga ends. But if your business relies heavily on TikTok, consider this your reminder to develop and add other channels, just in case.
